My husband received a judgement from...

an old debt that occurred before we were married but it came through the court six months after we were married. I want to know if it is legal for them to empty my account for payment and if they can empty our joint account as well. we have four kids and cannot afford to be put on the street.

Unless you signed as a co-debtor, the answer is no. They cannot garnish your joint account. However, to prevent them from trying (and then having to hire a lawyer to get it all back), you could possibly take his name off, or open up a separate account and transfer all the funds from the joint account into your name. Good luck.
