Is there any way to negotiate with a creditor after they have filed suit?

Yes, but you will wind up negotiating with the attorney. I would suggest employing an attorney to deal with the creditor's attorney. It might cost you a $100 but it might produce a better settlement agreement.

Yes, it is standard operating practice to negotiate with the attorney representing the creditor, but you should have an attorney representing you do the negotiating. The attorney will also determine whether or not the creditor can prove it's case against you, as well as, whether the creditor has violated any consumer protection laws giving you the right to file a counterclaim. Hiring an attorney will save you money in almost any case. Good luck.
