You will not be individually persoanlly responsbiel for his chidl support debt. But, you may be indireclty charged. Whatever gets taken out of his paycheck or bank account(s) is less he can put towards marital property. If he has credit card debt. you will not be persoanlly responsbiel if you are not a signatory on the account and you never use the card, and never let it be used for itmes exclusively for your benefit or obligation. If you ar ehurt and he uses the crd to pay yrou medical bill, the credit cared cpomapny might be able to pursue you to pay if he does not.

If hew gets sued on any of his debts and they get a judgment that judgment may act as a lien on his real property. If you two buy or already own a house, the lien will attach to that property. Before you could sell or refinance the mortgae on that house, you might have to pay off the judgment to clear the title.

But no debtor wil lbe able to say "he owes us money, because you married him, you now owe us the same money." But, new debts coudl beciem yours as spouse. If a person is seriously injured, their spouse can be held responsible for the medical treatment. If you already own a home, and then get married, yoru new husband can contract for repairs and improvements that you would also be financially responsbile for.

Good luck
