Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

I live in Missouri and have never been served papers on a collection case against me. I but found out looking through casenet that there is a dismissal hearing date set and it says Event Text: IF NO FURTHER SERVICE ATTEMPT BY PLAINTIFF. It does show that there was an attempt about a month ago but was to wronge address. How long do they have to serve me and what does the dismissal hearing thing mean?

Generally, they must serve you within the Stattue of limitaitons period plus ninetly days. If there is awriting evidencing hte alleged debt, that is ten years plus 80 days, Otherwise it is five eyrs plus nintely days. The court sdon't want case slingering, so periodically (once or twice a year) they sne dout notices fo rcases ath thav ehad no taction. THe notice t teh plaintiss says get this case going or it will be dismissed fo rlack of prosecution. it is a dismisal without prejudice. Therefore, the plaintiff can bring the suit again, as long as the stautory period has not expired. If they are unsuccessful serving you at the address listed a month ago (or anywhere via Alias Summons) thent eh case may likely get dismissed.

Good luck
