Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

I am considering marriage to a lady that has a lot of credit card debt. If married am I responsible for her debt or is she. We are working together on a plan to play her debt within 4 years using her income. My income would be devoted to mortgage, etc.

You will not be legally liable for her existing debt, unhless you sign something taking on that responsibility. You may incur some liabilityfor debt incurred by her after the marriage if it is "marital debt". You might consider entering into a pre-nuptial agreement setting forth the terms of your finacial agreement and providing for the possibility that the marriage does not last forever.
