In Missouri, if a husband and wife are sued jointly and severally by a debt collector regarding a joint debt, can either the wife or husband file papers and defend the case in court on behalf of both of them?

Unless the spouse is an attorney, they risk getting a default judgment, when someone relies on their spouse to defend them. In most cases, one attorney can represent both spouses.
