Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

My mother sued me in 2006. She won a judgment for around

$8000. Soon after this they put a garnishment on my wages.

They have garnished me for years now and it's never failed

to be on there. For the past few months it hasn't been on

there. I would like to know why. Is there a statue of

limitations on how much they can collect or how long they

can collect? Is there somewhere I can go to look and see how

much I've paid on it? I don't want to be garnished but I

don't want them to come back to me and say I owe a whole

bunch of money for someone elses mistake. Please help.

Depending upon how the judgmetn was entered, it is only effective for 5-10 years unless it is renewed. You may go to Missouri's Casenet system to look up the judgment. Look to see if there have been any entries since the garnishment was first entered. Perhaps you have paid it off. If there is still ablance, it is accruing statutory interest, and therefore is getting bigger.

Good luck
