Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

A moving company did not charge a credit card for a move

A national moving company performed a complete move 9 months ago. The company neglected to charge my credit card for the move until this month. My question is do I still owe the company the money for the move. There were no problems with the move and the company performed all their obligations. The question is do I owe the money for the move and can they charge my credit card for a move they performed 9 months ago.

Do you owe the money? Yes.

Can they charge it now 9 months after the move? Assuming you authorized them to charge it before, probably yes, though I'm not sure what the charge card company rules are. However, again, you were obligated to pay anyway, so fighting the battle to reverse the charge just so they have to sue you in court to get the money ... isn't anything I would recommend.

The statute of limitations for 'contract law' is 5 years in MO., 10 years if written and signed with certain formalities. Sorry, I'm sure you'd rather I wrote that they have 6 months to collect or they lose their rights, but it's probably not so.
