Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
who has to pay
Before I moved in to my rental property the landlord agreed to get the garage door fixed. Well, he was taking a long time to schedule it so he asked me to call and arrange the repairs. When the guy was done I called my landlord who asked to speak to the repair man and then he left to go meet my landlord for payment. Over a month later the company calls me about a bad check and tell me I'm responsible for payment and threatening me with calling the prosecuting attorney to report the check. They've even sent me certified mail and talked so rudely I hang up the phone. Am I in legal danger? Do I have to pay this bill? What can they do to me? They are trying to say that I'm ''in on it'' with the landlord because I won't give them his personally number (but I don't give anyone's number to a stranger). Please help

Re: who has to pay
If your landlord is aware of the bad check situation, make him aware that you are getting hassled by the repairman. If he does not move to get it taken care of, you should strongly consider whether you want to withold teh telephone number from the repairman.
If you requested the repairman come fix the door, and did nto make it clear that the landlord would be responsible for payment BEFORE the work began, you may be liable for the paying the repairman.
Good Luck
