Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Payment of Medical Bills

Thank you for your help. If I have surgery and I have no medical insurance, do they have to accept whatever monthly amount I can pay them, or can they sue me anyhow.

Re: Payment of Medical Bills

I am not aware of any law which requires a health care provider to accept partial payments, so in my opinion, they could sue you if you did not pay the bill. In my experience, many health care providers, their billing services, or their collection agencies will make arrangements for payments in most cases. Also, even if you do get sued, the creditor's attorney will often agree to accept installment payments as a way to get you to sign a Consent Judgment. Good luck!
