This question is probably better answered by the individual credit card companies. If at some point both spouses woed money to the credit card company, there is little in the law to prevent the company from coming after either of them for an overdue bill. If a spouse wishes to no longer be burdened by charges made by an exspouse, they can close the account and possibly open another one. The issue of credit card seperation, (especally if both spouses used the card or marital assets were used to pay the bill during the marriage) should be addressed in the Seperation of asets and bills in the divorce decree.
