Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Question about a summons

I recently found out that I may be served and looked my information up on Case.net in Missouri and found that in fact a case had been filed against me (probably for a credit card debt) It said a summons had been served but I haven't received it yet. My question is can I contact the person who filed the claim and see if there is a settlement that can be reached before going to court or should I wait?

Re: Question about a summons

There is no doubt that you should at least consult with an attorney. Depending upon the facts of the case and the amount of the alleged debt, the attorney may very well be able to save you more money than the attorney costs. I have handled hundreds of these cases over the thirty years I have been practicing law. In fact, I handled thousands of these cases for the credit card companies before I began representing the consumer. You should feel free to give me a call for a telephone consultation about your case. If I can help you I will quote you a reasonable fee.
