Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

I have received a summons for a debt that is within the past 5 years. The debt was a credit card, and its from Gamache and Myers law firm. I can't afford a lawyer and not sure what to do, court case is in April. I have not paid on this account or attempted to make a payment recently. I think the debt is about $1000, and I obviously can't afford a lawyer but I can afford to pay the money either.

If you believe the amount they are alleging you owe is somewhat accurate, you might consider making a payment arrangement. They may agree to take less that the total amount if you pay it in a few payments over a shirt (2-3 mos) period. Otherwise, you might elct to deny the claim at the answer docket in April. They may send you Discovery Requests, which you need to timely respond to. You might also reconsider investing in legal counsel to protect yout interests. It might save you money.

Good luck
