Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
I have been renting furniture from a local rent to own store for over 2 years now. My Husband and I recently lost our jobs and have gotten a month behind in payments. we have tried to work something out but they continuously stop by our house every day and harass us. I set up an appt for them to come and get the merchandise today but they never showed. What is the worse thing that could happen if I tell them I sold the merchandise?

Well, I suppose that you could be arrested and charged with stealing property that you did not own. This could be a felony charge depending upon the value of the property. And, the business owner could also sue you for the value of the property and possibly also punitive damages based upon your willful wrongful act.
