Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Serving Summons

I have been living apart from my husband in a different state and I received a summons for a credit card debt. The sherrif's dept. gave him the summons but he never got in touch with me. I was to appear in court 7 months ago for this summons but didn't know about this and a judgement was entered without my presence. Is there anything that can be done?

Re: Serving Summons

If you were not residing with your husband at the time of service then you may be able to attact the judgment entered against you based upon the Court's lack of jurisdiction over you due to no service. I have handled several similar cases over the years. There is no guarantee that you will win, but depending upon various factors it might be worth a try. If the judgment is in a court in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area, I may be able to help. You may call me for a free telephone consultation at 314-727-2822.
