Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

A sheriff came to serve me a court summons yesterday, but I no longer live in that town( or county). My former room mate simply told him I don't live there anymore. The sheriff said ok and left. What happens now? Will it be a default judgement or do they have to locate me and refile?

if you were nto served, no judgment can occur. You might follow the case on Casenet to see what the Sheriffs return of service states. if you are still in Missouri, the plaintiff might attempt to serve you where you now live. Or, they might Dismiss the case and refile in the county where you now live.

Good luck
