Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

statue of limitations for billing

I had a surgical procedure done and thought i had paid it completely. Two years after the procedure was done I recieved a--name removed--from an anesthetist saying that I owed them $600. This was the ''first''--name removed--that i had ever received from them. Is there a statue of limitations on something like this or am i obligated to pay this--name removed--

Re: statue of limitations for billing

Under the facts that you described, the limitations for suing for that debt would be at least five years, and possibly as many ten years.

I suggest that you communicate with the supposed lender, and ask for documentation of the supposed services rendered, and break down of the charges. A doctor's office that is two years behind in its billing, is very likely to be mistaken about the debt completely, or in part.

Good Luck,
