Re: Statue of Limitations

You likely received a "summons." The statute of limitations on a credit card debt is five years. However, it runs from the date of the last payment. If you made payments in the interim, you've kept the statute alive.

If you have not, consider getting an attorney and filing an answer asserting the statute of limitations. If it applies, it is a complete defense.

Good luck,

Re: Statue of Limitations

There may be differnet opinions on the statute of limitations applicable to your particular case, but generally speaking, ten years is the longest possible period of time wihin which to bring the suit. You should consult with and hire an attorney to represent you inthe pending litigation. There are many ways in which an attorney can save you more money than the attorney will cost. Good luck.
