How can I stop interest from accuring on a collections judgment?

Pay the principal down to zero, or file for bankruptcy protection. Otherwise, a judgment accrues interest by law. Some Judgment creditors will agree to freeze the interest if the debtor makes sizeable regular (often monthly) payments
