Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
I stopped paying on a $500 credit card four years ago because they continued to raise my interest rate. I am now being sued for $1700. I was willing to take the hit to my credit score because I was under the impression they could not put a lien against my house, attach my wages or bank account. Was I wrong?

You are probably wrong, If the Plaintiff can prove their case in court. A jundgment against you may act as a lien against your real property. This could come up if you attempt to sell or refinance your home. If the orignal credtor sold the debt to the plaintiff, then they may not be able to garnish your wages or execute against your bank account(s). If you fail to Answer the allegation being made against you in court, judgment may taken against you be default.
