Threat of further collection action

Can a collection agency threaten to take further collection action against you even though you are and have been making monthly payments just because you refuse to talk to their agent?

For some reason some people think that making partial payments on a regular basis stops the creditor from taking action. This is simply not true except for certain limited circumstances such as when the creditor has obtained a Judgment with a stay of execution upon payment of agreed upon installments. There are laws which are meant to protect people from being threatened and harrassed by collectors and you might be able to use these laws to your advantage.
