Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

unable to pay Debt consequences

Hi There,

I have a total debt of around $24000 devided among four credit cards, I am moving back to my home country and I am unable to pay debt as my financial situation is poor. I wanted to know If i dont end up paying this debt what consequences I can end up facing. I might come back to the US to travel etc. Can I come back to US not bothering about someone catching me at the airport and putting me in the Jail etc. Please advice

The US does not have debtor's prisons. It is unlikely that you will be jailed for unpaid credit card debts. However, you may be sued in civil court either here or almost any other country you move to. It is unlikely that you will be sued overseas, but it is theoretically possible. and you ay get nasty communications from collection agancies, that will not have the restrictions imposed by US law.

Good Luck
