Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Unpaid Checks

I would like to know what would happen if a person does not pay her checks and they have gone to the prosecuting general. This person has been arrested for the checks. What kind (if any) jail time are they looking at. Also, what about if they have someone paying on the bad checks, what happens then?

Re: Unpaid Checks

Depending upon the amount of bad checks written the person is facing either misdemeanor or felony criminal charges. That person needs to hire a criminal defense attorney. If the criminal charges can not be sucessfully defended, then the attorney should be able to negotiate a plea bargain under which the defendant might avoid a conviction, might avoid jail or prison time, and might avoid a huge fine. Restitution (the paying back of the amount of the bad checks) will definitely be rquired, but may be accomplished over time. If this case is pending in the eastern part of the state, you or the defendant may call me for a free telephone consultation.
