Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri
My wife bought a car in N.C. in 1994, after moving to M.O. a couple years later she quit making payments. I am guessing she still owed about 1,000 to 1,500. The place we bought the car from put a lean on it. I called them to find out the balance of the vehicle and they tell me paper work is lost in the owners attic and that they have to find it. That was about 2 months ago, now every time I call they put me on hold and never answer the phone. When I call back I get a recording. I believe they are trying to avoid me. All I want to do is pay what is owed and have the lean removed so I can get the title cause in M.O. I cant register the car with out it.

If you do not get a useful response from the folks in NC soon, you may have to file a Petition to quiet title to the vehicle here in Missouri. If you do not get a judge to declare that your wife and you have clear title, you will at least force the folks in NC to respond.
Good luck
