Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri
3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child
Hi, my husband and I had our home searched by police in which they found, less than 35 grams of marijuana and assorted pipes. The search came about because 3- 16 year old kids were at my house smoking their own weed. One of the boys sold some to another person that came by. The police were informed of the sale and questioned all 3 boys. They told the police that I sold them the weed, not true. We are being charged with 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, possesion, and distrubution. We tried to work as a CI for the police, but due to other people finding out about the situation, the boys' mothers apparently told other people about it, we are not allowed to continue, ''to protect our own safety.'' The detectives involved are going to tell the prosecutor that we have been trying to work with them, and try to get our sentencing lessend. What kind of time are we looking at here? My husband has no prior record and I have one charge of possesion of less than 35 grams.
Thanks

Re: 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child
Your post is deeply disturbing for a number of reasons. At least you have apparently decided to attempt to obtain some legal advice, something you should have done as soon as law enforcement authorities became involved. I can not overempahsize how serious your situation is, or how desparately you need to hire the best criminal defense attorney you can find and afford immediately. He, or she, can advise you as to the range of punishment you are facing on any criminal charges, and the possibilitry of avoiding a long prison sentence. I would not be surprised if attorney's fees will range in the $10,000 to $20,000 range for an experienced, competent attorney. Good luck.
