Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

It's been 10 years, can I get a felony record expunged?

I was convicted of a drug felony in Missouri almost ten years ago. I have been a model citizen since then, and I would like to do a career change. I know that now a days companies do background checks. I am only 29 years old, educated, successful and would like to be able to do a career change. I know that being young and naive back then is no excuse, but I also feel that 10 years is a long time ago for it to still be held against me in an unsavory light. I was told that it would cost thousands of dollars for me to do this, but that advice was not from a lawyer. I live in Colorado now, so it's hard for me to go to St. Louis and do this in person. Any help or adivce you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

In many state and federal laws a felony conviction is not counted after 10 years. Not after almost 10, but 10.

The only way to remove this from your record is to get it expunged by the court which issued the conviction or get a pardon from the governor or the president, depending upon which system convicted you.

Sorry the news isn't easier. Youthful indiscretions can last a lifetime.
