If you are held in Contempt by the Judge, then your stay in custody could last indefinitely so long as the Court Order committing you to the custody of the jailer also sets forth what you nee to do to earn your release (also called "purging" yourself of the contempt.) Some cases say that the Judge must put language in the order which giveyou the keys tothe jailhouse door. This usually means paying a certain amoun tif not all of what you owe. If you are facing this situation, you need an attorney.
