Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

How can we beat a domestic assault? Last year I called the police after a dispute between my bf and I, they came out and I told them I didnt want to press charges or fill out a report. However, now my bf is facing an domestic assault charge and has to go to court. How can we get these charges dropped?

It sounds like your bf needs to hire an attorney to help the prosecutor decide to dismiss the case or accept a reasonable plea deal. Once you called to report domestic abuse, you cannot decide to have the charges

.Dropped.

Good luck

I have handled a large number of similar cases. In some jurisdictions a defense attorney can persuade the prosecutor to drop the charge, but in most jurisdictions the prosecutor is tired of having people in your position change their minds. In reality, a lot of women do change their minds and the prosecutor has seen some of those women after the boyfriend has assaulted her at some later date. I agree with the answer posted above that your boyfriend should hire an attorney. As I said earlier, I have handled many of these cases over the last thirty-three years, and he may call me for a free telephone consultation.
