Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

case dismissed and subsequent bench warrant

On March 28, 2004, I was arrested for trespassing at a hotel where I was a registered guest. Within a week the case was dismissed upon the condition that I waive my right to sue for false imprisonment. I recently found out that a bench warrant was issued for my arrest for failure to appear for trespassing charge. I contacted the Circuit Court and they have no record of my dismissal. I have moved twice in the past 3 years and I cannot find the paperwork. Now I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Re: case dismissed and subsequent bench warrant

First, you should hire an attorney. The attorney should be able to get the bench warrant cancelled. Then, the attorney can help you either persuade the prosecutor to drop the charges, or prepare the case for trial if you decide to go to trial. The attorney can demand the records of the hotel which should show that you were a registered guest, not a trespasser. Good luck.
