Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri
Can one be charged with stealing a car in Missouri, then because he is caught with the car in New York then be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle by new York

Under the facts you descibed, the person might be charged in both states. But, a conviction in Missouri, MIGHT preclude a possession conviction in New York. However, it is very likely that they could be convicted on both charges. I am not admitted in New York so you will have to confer with someone that is to get a definative answer as to whether New York law would prevent the second conviction.
