Re: confused and concerned
It sounds to me as if you should consult with an attorney right away. If necessary, it will be helpful to have an attorney on retainer to help you immediately if you are charged. An attorney can usually either set up a voluntary surrender and move the court to reduce any bond required or perhaps obtain your release upon your own recognizance. If you are taken into custody on the charge the attorey can obtain your release from custody much more quickly if he or she is already hired on the case. Then the attorney can defend you on the charge. If you do not already have an attorney, you may call me for a consultation.
