"Arraignment" is simply the process under which a person charged with committing a crime appears in Court and is told what the charges are and asked to enter a plea (usually "not guilty" at this stage. The person has the right to have the complaint (formal charging document) read aloud to him or her in open court, but way waive the formal reading and just accept a copy of the written document. This procedure offers ome protection to people who can not read. The "sentencing" involves another court appearance, after the person charged has been found guilty or has pled guilty and the judge tells the person what the punishment (the sentence) is.
