Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

My daughter was arrested yesterday and charged with forgery. She didn't forge anything, all she did was cash a check for someone else who was also arrested on forgery. The person told my daughter it was a "paycheck" but for some reason he has reached a limit on checks he could cash from this company this month. And he ask my daughter if he signed it over to her if she could get it cashed, which she did. Well she was with him when he and another gentleman were attempting the same thing. This time they got caught. To find out this person has forged over 40,000. worth of bad checks on this company. He even told the p[olice and the loss preventive officer from the store that she had know idea of what was going on,but they arrested her anyway because they have her on security tape when she cashed the one check for him. What I would like to know is what kind of charges might they charge her with and will she be looking at jail time?

She may be charged with a class C felony which carries a maximum prison term of seven years.

If she was arrested and released it may take some time for the prosecuting attorney to actually issue the charge and have a warrant put into the system. Now would be an excellent time for yor daughter to hire an attorney. I have handled several similar cases over the last thirty-three years and I have even conducted a jury trial on a very similar case. If your daughter is in my geographical area I might be able to offer my services to her for a reasonable fee. I would be willing to offer her, or you, a free telephone consultation if either of you would like to speak with me.
