Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

Drug possession charge

I was charged with minor possession of marijuana in missouri while participating in a float trip. Unfortunately, my lawyer recommended pleading guilty. I received a suspended imposition of sentence, along with 1 year probation. How will this show up on background checks? (was I actually convicted of a crime?) Can this information eventually be expunged from my record? I have no prior convictions, just a speeding ticket or two.

Re: Drug possession charge

The whole purpose of pleading guilty to get a plea bargain under which you received a suspended imposition of sentence was that, upon your sucessful completion of probation, you will not have a conviction on your record. You will, of course, always have the arrest on your record. Under the circumstances you describe and under the current law, I do not believe that you will be eligilble to have the records expunged. Your lawyer should have explained everyhtin to you.
