Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

We feel our rights have been taken

If someone wants to drop charges against someone are we allowed to do that? If we were given wrong information about a case to make the case worse, by the prossecutors side can we still drop the case? What is the age that you can drop a charge againt someone? Do we have a right to drop charges when the state took it away?

Re: We feel our rights have been taken

You have no right to 'drop the case". The case is not you against the defendant, it is the state, the county, or the city against the defefndant. If you don't want to testify the prosecutor can subpoena you and compel your testimony or have you held in contempt and arrested if you fail to show up in court pursuant to a subpoena. You can ask the prosecutor to allow you to sign an affidavit of non-prosecution, and the prosecutor may allow you to do so and then drop the case. If you feel that you have been deceived by the prosecutor's office, I would be sure that the defendant's lawyer knows all about it before any trial.
