Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

Felony

My son is being held for, Possession Of Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams Or Less Of Marijuana { Felony C RSMo: 195.202 }, Possession Of Up To 35 Grams Marijuana { Misdemeanor A RSMo: 195.202 }, Robbery - 1st Degree { Felony A RSMo: 569.020 }, Armed Criminal Action { Felony Unclassified RSMo: 571.015 }, Burglary - 1st Degree { Felony B RSMo: 569.160 }.

He takes responsibility for the possession charges but claims his innocents on the rest. At this time, they have given him a court appointed lawyer. Should I get him a lawyer and can you tell me what kind of time he will be looking at, the worst and the least.

Re: Felony

I would have to run the statutes to give you a ballpark figure on the maximum prison terms your son is facing. I can tell you that they run into many, many years. I would strongly suggest that a private attorney be hired, if one can be afforded. I have handled hundreds of similar cases over the thirty years I hvae been practicing law, and I can tell you that a competent private attorney is going to require at least ten thousand dollars up front and probably a lot more than that. However, if you are serious about hiring an attorney, you should feel to contact me at my office. If I can not help you myself, I would be happy to suggest other attorneys. Good luck.
