Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

my friend (adult) saw a bunch kids (minors) picking on another kid. He told them to back off and go home. The kids starting talking smack to my friend, saying they would kick his arse too. He laughed and told them he could kick their ass easy, told them to go home before he calls the cops. The kids did some more smack-talking and eventually dispersed. My friend kept his hands in his pockets and his distance from them the entire time. One of the kids was video taping the whole thing. Later, police showed up at my friend's apartment, saying that one of the kids claimed that he beat him up. The cops saw the video tape. The cops were pretty mean to my friend, treating him as if he were guilty. My friend has given them a statement multiple times, including down at the police station, twice. My friend said he saw several of the kids and their parents down there giving statements as well. But today the cops told my friend to go down to the police station for yet another statement. During the course of this, the cops denied anybody giving any previous statements about this, even though my friend was there and saw others doing it. My friend had also previously found out that several of the cops are also sports coaches for several of the kids. My friend has not been formally charged with anything, nor has anybody pressed charges against my friend, but the cops continue to harass my friend, saying that this is far from over. My friend doesn't know what to do. Should he contact a lawyer? If so, what kind of lawyer should he contact? What kind of charges could he be facing?

Your friend needs to consult directly with a criminal defense attorney beefier saying anything else to the police.
