Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri
I let a friend borrow my new laptop about 1 1/2 years ago. Two months ago i asked that it be returned(July 2010). They stated they would send it back after a couple paydays(face-book message). After a month (Aug 2010)i asked again and now i have demanded the return of my laptop. They have not responded to messages, email, text messages to cell phone, phone calls, etc.. i still have not received my laptop back. Can i have this person arrested for theft? I do not really want to because she is a APC (security guard) for walmart and it will possibly cost her a job she has held for 8 years, although she is not giving me any other options. The laptop new cost $600 and i live in Missouri. I can not afford to persue this as a Civil Matter ie.. Small Claims. Also we live in different Jurisdictions i live in Dallas County she lives in Clay county so where would i report the theft to?
Thanks

Missouri now allows limited representation. Perhaps you need to hire an attorney to write a letter to your "friend" to wake her up. If a criminal theft charge might cost her her job, she may respond to the letter. She probably does not have your computer anymore, but she should pay you fr it.
Good luck
