Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

My Grandson was in an auto accident in 2007. He had been drinking, and though it was unclear who caused the accident, (there was another vehicle involved) he was charged with asault and dwi. He spent several months in the hospital, (not expected to live for the first 4 weeks). The person in the other vehicle did not have any life threatening injuries. My Grandson was advised by his attourney to plead guilty, which he did. He had insurance that paid the other driver that which was due him. My Grandson was sentanced to five years probation, community service and court costs. He has served one year and three months of the probation, completed sixty hours of the one hundred hours community service and has paid about half of the court cousts. I asked his PO officer today if the felony conviction would be taken off after he finished everything, and she said no. Is there a way after he finishes his probation, community service and court costs, that he can have the felony taken off of his record? He was under the impression, (from his lawyer), that at the end of his commitment, the felony would be taken off of his record. I would like to know if this is possible.

There may be difference if this was an SIS or SES conviction. His lawyer can explain the difference to him. Once he has completed his probation, he may be able to later have the conviction expunged.

Good luck
