Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri
gun ownership
When I was 19, I was convicted of a felony. I am now 31, living and working in Missouri. I have had no other infractions of the law and all my fines have been paid. Is there any scenario that would allow me to legally own a shot gun and get a hunting liscense?

Re: gun ownership
Typically, if you have a felony, you cannot possess or own a firearm and/or be approved for a FOID card. However, depending upon the nature of the felony, you may be able to petition the court to expunge the conviction. If this is possible, then you may be able to apply for such a license, as you would not technically then have a conviction for a felony. You need to check the law as it pertains to the particular offense for which you were convicted (there are certain offenses that cannot, under any circumstances, be expunged). If you are within the category of offenses that can be expunged, contact your local State's Attorney's office and ask how to get the paperwork/application for such. Fill it out and file it - it will take some time before your case is heard but, if it is approved, you may be able to thereafter get a firearm and FOID card/hunting license. Good luck to you.
