Re: Juvenile Crimes
Hire the best attorney from the best firm you can. These are serious charges and may alter yor Son's life irreperably.
If you cannot afford the attorney of your chioce, you might consider asking the Court to appoint an attorney. This is tricky sometimes. A public defender may be carrying alot of cases. This could cause them to accept the first deal that the prosecutor offers. IF your son did not or could not have done the acts they allege he did, you opt for an attorney who can devote more time to his case then an overburdened one can.
If you feel that he may have participated in the acts they allege, you may do better with a public defender. They probably hvae experience with the prosecutor and the judge. They may be offered abetter initial deal than a private attonrey could get.
If funds are tight for you, your best option is if the judge appoitns an attorney to represent your son. The type of attorney he gets can very widely. But, it has been my experience that appointed counsel do a lot of research and put a lot of effort into an appointed case where they see a possibly good defense.
The prosecutor may be more willing ot agree to their version of the facts becaus eit doe snto efect an ongoing relationship like with a public defender.
All of these attorneys are assumed to be competent. However, you could do well to consider the experience and history with the prosector in choosing represntation.
Good Luck

Re: Juvenile Crimes
Depending upon the exact crimes charged, your son could be processed in Juvenile Court under our Juvenile laws, or it is possible that he could be certified to stand trial as an adult although this is fairly rare. You definitely should hire a competent and honest attorney, and not one who only responds to questions on this site in a lame effort to solicitate new "customers".
