Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri
How much would my lawyer cost on possession of marijuana
I was riding in my car when a St John policeman pulled me over because he said my car was to loud(which it is not because my car is all stock). He approached the car and took my driver's license and insurance. The officer went back to his car ran my info which was clean. He returned my insurance and driver's license to me and then asked that I step out of the car. I was shocked, he asked me had anyone been smoking weed. I replied no which was true. The officer created probable cause and said he smelled weed and he searched me and found a very small amount of weed. I was not arrested for the weed or ticketed for what I was originally pulled over for and my female passenger was never searched. Also the officer told me he didn't need permission to search me.

You say that you were not arrested for the weed. Were you given a ticket to appear in court? If the officer does get a case issued against you in the City of St. John Municipal Court, then an attorney (like me) would charge about $250 to be sure that you did not take a conviction. Sure, it's the officer's word against yours and your witness's, but this sounds like a bad search and seizure in the first place. If you are facing charges you should hire an attorney. You may call me for a free telpehone consultation if you do not already have an attorney.
