What legal and financial responsibilities occur when you marry a woman with a child that lives with you and the child breaks the law or has an accident?

If you have not adopted the child, you probably have no personal liability. But, the Lamento Doctrine stands for the idea that if you have insurance that might cover the child's acts, you ate more likely to be found to have some liability. If the child is a minor, your wife may be liable. That might indirectly affect you.
