Legal responsibilities of narcotics detectives

If you are told,by a detective, not to report a parole vialation to your P.O., in order to maintain the level of secrecy in an investigation, then later, HE reports it to your parole officer, and you are charged with violating the terms of your parole,do you have any legal recourse at all?

Re: Legal responsibilities of narcotics detectives

No, you do not get any relief just because you were so naive or so desperate that you believed this detective. It never fails to amaze me, no matter how many hundreds of times I hear it, that anyone would make this mistake. Follow me on this, the detective works for the police, right? Who is it that puts handcuffs on you, puts you in jail, files documents to have you prosecuted, and then testifies against you? They are trained to lie to you to get what they want from you, and then when they have what they want they simply do their jobs. Did you ever hear of your Constitutional rights? Why would you ever waive them? Well, enough of my ranting. It might not be too late for you to hire an attorney and get the best representation you can get to try to avoid having your probation or parole revoked. Do so, and follow your attorney's advice.
