Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

My name is Mark. I am 31. When i was 14 i had sex with a girl that was 20. She said that she was pregnant and it was mine. She said that i didnt have to have any thing to do with it. As long as my parents didnt turn her in for statutory rape she wouldnt expect any support from me at all. Now she wants child support 15 years later. I lived i Missouri. Can she do that?

Teh need for support does not always follow the age of consent concept of having kids. In your case, if paternity is established, the state can come after you for support reimbursement, if the mother goes on public support. If the mother just wants supoport direclty, then yuo may have great case to contest that based upon your inability to legally consent to intercourse. This may be an ewxpensive defense, but it might work. If this is acase of the mother wanting support to be paid to her, contact (in person) a family law attorney in yrou area. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation. You may have one of the few defenses to an obligation to provide support. However, do you want your child to go without?

You should consult with an attorney and hire an attorney if the child's mother is taking any legal action against you. If the attorney can not succeed on a deffense as suggested above, the attorney can at least protect your rights and be sure that you do not pay any more than is legally required.
