Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

I pleaded guilty to a theft/stealing of $500 or less. I also received 2 years of unsupervised probation by pleading guilty. How do I answer the have you been convicted of .....question on job applications? I don't want to lie & say no but how do I answer it without my file going into the no file!

The answer to your question would depend upon whether you received a suspended imposition of sentence (SIS) or a suspended execution of sentence (SES) when you plead. If it's the first one, then you can answer the question "Have you been convicted . . ." with the truth "NO." But, if it's the second one, the truth would be that you were cfonvicted. Be sure to read the questionvery carefully. Most applications recently have been updated to include the language ". . . or plead guilty to . . . ".after asking about a conviction. Good luck.
