Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

procuring alcohol to a minor

i was at a bowling alley with two friends who did not have id and i bought a pitcher of beer. we barely even drank anything or played our first full game before the bartender came over to us and asked my two friends for id. he called the police and they gave me a ticket ''procuring alcohol to a minor'' and a court date. what should i expect to see as a punishment for this? what is this classified as? and do i need a lawyer? is this something that goes on record or something? Thank you for your help!!

Re: procuring alcohol to a minor

Yes, unfortunately, a conviction on this charge would go on your record, and any law enforcement officer who might have contact with you in the future will be able to find out about it. Also, potential employers, lenders, and so forth. So, you can see how important it is for you to be able to keep this from becoming a conviction. If you are charged with violating a municipal or county ordinance, you may be able to avoid the conviction relatively inexpensively. You should definitely hire an attorney. Any money you spend on attorney's fees will be well spent and will save you a great deal of expense and other losses in the future. If you do not have an attorney, you may call me for a consultation.
