Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri
I am recently married and we cannot afford a lawyer to defend me for recent charges brought against me. In Missouri State, Webster County, if one cannot afford a lawyer and has to use a public defender, what are the agreements that has to be made in order to have to engage the public definder? could a lein be put on any property you might own? The properties were owned by my spouse prior to our marraige and my name is not on any of the mortgage or titles.

If you can show that you are indigent, the county or the state will likley pick up the bill for yoru use of a public defender in a criminal case. If YOU have property taht you could sell, you might not be indigent. Your spouse's property may not be relevant to the determination of your indigency for this case.
