Re: sex charges

First of all, the police will turn the orignal charge over to the prosecutor sooner of later. They are lieing to you by saying that they will not do so, in order to try to get something (the names of drug dealers) from you.

Depending upon your criminal record, it is probably best for you to simply wait and then hire an attorney to represent you on the original charge. It is possible that you will be able to negotiate a plea bargain which will keep you out of jail and also possibly keep the conviction off of your record. If you choose to cooperate with the police they will use you for as long as they can and then they will burn you. Don't fall for it. The prosecutor has a period of years within which to bring the original charge, depending upon whether they file it as a misdemeanor or a felony. It's also possible that they will charge it as a municipal ordinance violation which is the easiest thing to deal with. I have seen this done many times in the City of St. Louis.
