Do me and/or my child have to testify in court if we do want to?

Re: Sex crime
Your question is so open ended that it is impossible to give a clear answer. Are you the defendant, vicitim, or relative of either?
Are you referring to a criminal trial, civil trial, or adminstrative hearing?
Generally only a civl plaintiff is required to testify at a trial, or have the case dismissed. In a criminal case, a defendant is not required to give testimony. A sex crime victim in a criminal trial can sometimes be excused from testifying, but it may cause the case against the defendant to be Dismissed. A witness generally must testify or risk being held in contempt.
Without more information, I cannot give you a clearer answer to your question.
Good Luck.
